Last week I’ve bought some Madeira cakes to try out something. I cut these two little portions out with a round cutter, I soaked the cakes with Rum and filled with some Nutella. It came out nice. But the main reason for doing this was to make the cake little less boring taste-wise. I wanted to try out this decoration, to cover the little cakes and didn’t want to just use a plain sponge. For decorating first I covered it with a layer of marzipan and then with the sugar paste.
I’ve made some lemon cupcakes on Sunday, here they are!
I used 3 little lemons and for the topping I used mascarpone cream cheese and whipped cream. There’s nothing much to say about these cakes, only that I’ve been meaning to try them for some time…
Easter is over, half term is almost over, school is back on Monday… I brought today my Easter’s Cupcakes both made last year and the ones I’ve made last weekend. To be honest I don’t remember what recipe I used last Easter but this time around I baked a fresh raspberry cupcake topped with mascarpone cream cheese. I also used some shredded coconut which I previously coloured with green food colour and ready-made raspberry icing to decorate, as well as mini chocolate eggs and other shapes.
Ha-ha-ha….a just wanted to post my two pictures of Easter cupcakes together WITH this post, and messed it all up! I’m still learning how this WordPress blog works. So for now I will leave the second picture hanging somewhere. Apparently…as I couldn’t manage to insert it NEXT to the first one. What am I doing wrong???
I wanted to start posting my cakes with this one which you can see on my Header as well. I’ve made these for Mother’s Day. It is a simple vanilla cake with chestnut and cream frosting, which is our family favorite. Too bad that my own Mother could not tasted it, or smell it as she lives quite far from the UK. But, I showed her the pictures and she loved it 🙂
Hello Everyone, I am finally here!
I have been thinking a lot lately whether to start a blog or not…as you can see I just did it eventually 🙂 The thing is I’ve been baking all over the last year lots of cupcakes and some regular cakes too, and I’ve just come to the conclusion that it would be nice to share more apart from posting my cupcake photos on facebook. Many people have been asking for recipes too, and it would definitely be easier to just share it on my new blog then one by one privately 🙂
It all started last March when I was preparing for my daughter’s 4th Birthday party. I was looking for some nice cake templates on the net when I came across those beautiful edible butterflies..That was it! I bought them and baked my very first cupcakes and decorated them with the colourful butterflies. The kids were delighted and so was I! It just didn’t stop there, I started to buy all kind of equipments and tools and crafts and few colours of sugarpaste, and I stared watching tutorials on YouTube about how to make a nice cupcake for various occasions. I’ve learned a lot, but there is still room enough to learn even more on the subject. But in the meantime I discovered in my self this passion for baking these yummy little cakes and the beauty and art of decorating them, which for me is the best part of the whole process.
Ha-ha, I do not have a modern kitchen, and I do not have a modern oven! Not even close….! Yet, my sweet creations do not seem to be affected by this unfortunate fact, although I do dream day by day about my perfectly equipped and perfectly functioning dream-kitchen, where I have enough storage cupboards, huge fridge and lots of space so when my two children chose to play under my feet (as they usually do) I don’t fall over. Ah, one day!
I will try to come weekly if nothing comes up, or better said as often as I bake a new batch of cupcakes, which usually happens every weekend. I will also upload some of my older cupcakes photos just to show you what I have made over the last year in case you’re interested 🙂 Right now I am busy with preparing for Szonja’s 5th Birthday party, which will give me plenty of opportunity for baking and decorating for the little Madams who she will invite for her Tea Party themed birthday party 🙂
See you soon,
…would be a short introduction about myself.
I am a mother of two, my beautiful daughter is turning 5 at the end of April (so she’s nearly there!), and my gorgeous boy who will turn 2 in August. We are a Hungarian family living in the UK. Our son was born here in Cambridge, our daughter was born in Budapest and she was 4 months old when we moved here.
Now, was this short enough or what? 🙂
